CEO & Co-Founder, Petrawell | Aerospace Manufacturing & Composites

Philip Venter is the CEO and Co-Founder of Petrawell, a South African advanced composites and aerospace manufacturing company focused on the development and manufacture of high-performance structures for space and aerospace and military applications.

He leads Petrawell’s strategy to develop sovereign African capability in advanced composite manufacturing, with particular focus on carbon-fibre structures, filament-wound components, pressure vessels, sandwich structures and precision aerospace hardware. His work combines engineering development with the industrialisation of manufacturing processes, quality assurance and the establishment of repeatable production capability.

Philip brings extensive experience in project, commercial and operational management, having previously led complex multidisciplinary engineering and infrastructure projects before moving into advanced manufacturing and aerospace. This background has shaped his focus on translating innovative engineering concepts into practical, manufacturable and scalable solutions.

Through Petrawell’s involvement in Africa2Moon, Philip supports the development and manufacture of structural hardware for Africa’s first lunar exploration mission. He is particularly passionate about strengthening Africa’s indigenous space-manufacturing capability, developing young engineering talent and demonstrating that advanced space hardware can be designed, industrialised and manufactured on the African continent.
