Mechanical Engineer

Thabang Maretela is a Mechanical Engineer specializing in product development within the SARAO Mechanical Engineering Functional Group. For the Africa2Moon project, Thabang played a major role in designing critical components for the structural qualification model, including the BALLS Quick Disconnect (QD Connector) and its associated Qualification Test Jig. He also had a major role in the design of the Pin Puller mechanism, a key component for the lander's structural release assembly. Thabang holds a B-Tech degree from the Central University of Technology (CUT).
