Announcement: Nature Astronomy Paper

Over the Moon to share our article published in Nature Astronomy.

"A lunar radio astronomy array built in Africa: The first all-African space exploration mission, Africa2Moon, is to be launched to the lunar south pole with Chang’e-8, scheduled for 2029."

Congratulations and gratitude to our team of scientists and engineers and all those who have volunteered their time to get us this far, with the first prototypes, as imaged in the article, off shortly to Beijing for testing.

Rhodes University also announces its part of Africa2Moon, the continent’s first space exploration mission - aiming to place a working radio telescope array on the lunar surface.

Rhodes University's Distinguished Professor Oleg Smirnov is the mission’s principal investigator for radio astronomy, bringing expertise developed through MeerKAT and the SKA to a bold new frontier: observing the Universe from the Moon.
